Inequality Matters  •  Arsenale, Venice  •  Fabric and Metal  •  10'x12'x15'

The vitality of contemporary art thrives on confronting the global context in which it lives. Yale economist and Nobel Laureate Robert Shiller defined “the most important problem we are facing today” as the ongoing rise of inequality not only in the United States but throughout the world. The cultural fabric of society is torn wider as the gap between the rich and poor increases. Economists refer to this as the “champagne glass” condition. Contemporary art must address this reality. This sculpture and installation represents the inequality that is so prevalent today.

One Plus One Equals One • Brooklyn • Wood, Pastel on Fabric • 17'x12'x8'

This installation is an experiential piece, transforming the visitor’s perception through visual, physical, and auditory interaction. Through the piece, the artist evokes the clarifying power of unity through immersion and contemplation, inspired by the “one plus one equals one” philosophy espoused by renowned minimalist composer Arvo Pärt. The artist also draws on her mesmerizing childhood experience of visiting Oscar Niemeyer’s breathtaking Cathedral of Brasília for the first time.

Dream Pavilion  •  London  •  Bamboo and Fabric

The proposed Pavilion structure is a perfect medium for using a public space to transcend the mundanity of the status quo and invite visitors to enter the realm of inspiring dreams.

The approach for the Pavilion design is influenced by the cosmic wormhole—when time and space fold and we can traverse them seamlessly, as in a dream state. In dreams, past and future dissolve and spacetime is reconfigured in ways we seldom conceive in our waking hours. Consider dreams a place of utopia, an ethereal plane of endless possibilities: The Pavilion should evoke this and inspire visitors to create, achieve, and be.

What's Your Burning Issue?  •  Brooklyn  •  Cardboard, Wood, Paper, and Fabric  •  12'x10'x5'

The location was an old fire station located on a very busy street in Brooklyn. We invited the people walking by to enter the booth and tell us their "burning issues." As in a confessional stall, the pedestrians left us with a sense of surprise with their open and fresh stance.

Holocaust Memorial  •  Atlantic City  •  Fabric, Glass, Metal, Stone, and Wood  •  24'x18'x12

The project’s intention is not simply to erect a structure to memorialize the historical facts of such a significant event, but rather to create a cultural hub that will allow for evolving physical and emotional interconnection within the context of the site.
